About CozyLittle
Living well in a small home is really a series of measuring problems. How much does that pretty bin actually hold, and how many will fit the closet? How far apart should the shelves go, and how many brackets does that take? Will the sofa make it through the door before we fall in love with it? How many books does this bookcase really swallow — and how many boxes will the whole flat take when we move? None of it is hard maths, but doing it in your head, piece by piece, is where a tidy home turns into a frustrating afternoon with a tape measure.
CozyLittle exists to do that arithmetic for you. Rather than long articles you read end to end, the site is built around a set of small, single-purpose calculators, each aimed at one storage or space question. The Storage Volume & Capacity Calculatorturns a container’s dimensions into cubic feet and litres, and packs bins into a space on a real grid rather than by wishful volume. The Shelf & Closet Rod Planner lays out how many items fit a shelf, how many shelves climb a wall, and how much a hanging rod holds. The Room Layout & Furniture Fit Calculator shows the free floor a layout leaves and whether a big piece will tilt through a doorway. The Bookshelf & Media Capacity Calculator counts how many books, discs, or records a shelf unit holds from their spine thickness. The Moving Box & Bin Estimator turns your rooms into a box shopping list, and the Under-Bed & Drawer Volume Calculator measures the hidden storage you already own.
Around the calculators, the blog and learn section dig into small-space living, built-in and hidden storage, closet and shelving systems, multifunctional furniture, and decluttering by design, and the Storage & Small-Space Museumis a browsable collection of the chests and cabinets, the shelving and systems, the boxes and baskets, and the fold-away beds and built-ins that make homes work — with every entry, image, and fact drawn from Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons.
A few things worth stating plainly. CozyLittle is independent, and not affiliated with any furniture maker, storage brand, or moving company. It is supported by advertising, which is how the calculators stay free and account-free. Every figure a tool produces is an educational estimate built from the numbers you enter and standard geometry — real bins lean, doorways have trim, and packing style varies, so treat the results as planning figures. For anything that has to fit exactly, measure the real space before you buy or build. If a tool looks wrong, or you can think of one that belongs here, the contact page is where to tell us.
